Our Team

Dr Jenny Reason

Dr Jenny Reason

MRCVS, Cert AVP Veterinary Surgeon, Partner

She’s got a CertAVP which basically means she’s super smart and your pet is in the best possible hands. She juggles running this practice, stopping Carly spending large sums on sparkly vet wrap and 36km of paper towel, with a 2 small kids and an Ian to look after. On top of that she spends unusual amounts of time upside down doing aerial skills. She is basically wonder woman with a vet degree.

Dr Izzy Holland

Dr Izzy Holland

MRCVS, Veterinary Surgeon

Izzy joined us in summer 2024 after graduating from Surrey Vet School. She has spent many of her summers prior to graduating with us, so we already knew she fits in like a dream. And she has!

She’s super personable, loves her patients and clinically excellent all around. Just as happy in theatre as she is a consult room or wielding an ultrasound probe, she is a true general practitioner, and so your pets are in exceedingly good hands with her.

She has a love of collie’s and has a menagerie that includes sheep, ducks and chickens at home.

It’s probably also worth mentioning, she’s also odd. In the way that she actually enjoys running. And not running away from tigers, or towards food, she actually likes to run for running’s sake. She’s done approximately 100,003 Park Runs. And if that wasn’t odd enough did the “Backyard Ultra” in 2025 and is planning on it again for 2026. This is some kind of torture where you keep running laps of Thetford forest every hour on the hour until, presumably, either sense or death finds you. Sense found Izzy after 8 hrs of continuous running this year, which was sad because I lost a £50 bet with Jenny, and thought she would do 10. But at least she is more sensible than I had anticipated! And we get to play “double or quits” next year.

If that isn’t strange enough, when she isn’t running, she’s playing dodgeball! Fortunately, she fuels all of these strenuous activities by being an exceedingly good baker which is an activity that gains much wider team participation than running at BSEVC, and one we very much support by eating everything she brings in.

Abi Page

Abi Page

RVN, Cert VNECC Deputy Head Nurse

Abi came to us as an experienced RVN as she had worked with Simon previously. So it’s always good when a friend recommends a workplace! And oh my gosh, are we glad to have her. She quickly proved that she is not only an exceptionally calm, diligent and talented RVN, but she is also a natural leader and one that so many of the nursing team look up to and she has flourished into becoming a dream Deputy Head Nurse. She has been with us since 2021 but I do not remember what life was like without her in the team. She has also completed her ECC (Emergency and Critical Care) certificate since she has been with us and is truly one of the best nurses I have ever worked with, as well as one of the absolute best people. She leads with kindness and heart, which is the same way she nurses her patients, and I cannot express how incredibly lucky we are to have her looking after our precious patients.

Outside of work she has Trigger her horse who is in his “senior era” and has just bought a house in Stowmarket and looks forward to renovating it and making it a glorious cottagey nest!

Helen Moss

Helen Moss

RVN DIPCABT (COAPE) NOCN, Veterinary Nurse

Helen joined us in the autumn on 2024, and brings with her bags full of experience, excellent organisational skills and just a generally awesome attitude. She’s worked with a lot of us at a previous practice and we were thrilled that she wanted to join us. Not only a truly first class RVN, she is also a qualified behaviourist and able to see complex behaviour needs in cats, dogs and rabbits! This super accomplished hero also has a certificate in exotic animals and so happy to see anything that walks, hops or crawls in the doors! When not in work she spends time with her partner and is also a keen and beautiful crafter, holding her own stalls around Essex and Suffolk during the festive period! She also has a particular penchant for cream teas, Collie’s and Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers!

Kirsty Notley

Kirsty Notley

Client Care

Kirsty is a self proclaimed “Crazy Cat Lady” and has been with us for a number of years at Bury before coming to be a front-of-house superstar at Needham. She joined the customer care team from a career in retail, and so knows a thing or two about providing excellent customer service.

She is one of the most friendly, thorough and detail focussed people I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and she never seems to have a bad day! In her spare time she fosters kittens for the RSPCA and has been known to rehab even the most swipey bitey feral kittens into sweet, adorable pet cats. Patient, kind, caring, she will welcome you with open arms and will certainly go goo-goo if you have a kitten in your basket!

Dr Carly Day

Dr Carly Day

MRCVS, GPCert(OS&Dent), Veterinary Surgeon, Partner

She’s a complete fruit loop but a brilliant all-round vet. She has some super skills in imaging, emergency work and endocrinology and can sniff out an Addison’s dog 2 towns away. Dentistry is her true passion and she gained her certificate in advanced dentistry in 2023. She sees herself as an inner hippy with a talent for rap that’s she’s yet to unravel. Carly has a soft spot for the golden oldies and has 2 geriatric dogs as well as three horses that vary from sane to psychotic in their attitudes to life.

Dr Lottie Balcombe

Dr Lottie Balcombe

MRCVS, Veterinary Surgeon

Lottie has joined us to be head vet of Needham Market and we are delighted she has come on board. She worked with Carly, Ayla and Ash S in a former job many moons ago at a practice on the Essex/ Suffolk border, and when we needed a steady, experienced and calm leader of the crew at Needham, we were super delighted Lottie wanted to come aboard. She’s passionate about high clinical standards and teaching, and we know there is no one better to lead the team. When not at work, she shares her life with her 2 small people and her adorable Oats the cockerfloof who has been by her side for over a decade.
Keira Havel

Keira Havel

BSc, RVN, Veterinary Nurse

Kiera is an RVN who joined the team at Needham once we opened and we are so delighted! She was with us at Bury a student and we loved watching her grow and develop. She went to a practice closer to home after she qualified as the commute was too far, and we missed her dearly for 3 years, however when Needham opened, the stars aligned and she has returned!

Not only is Kiera super kind and compassionate, she is an exceedingly smart cookie having just completed her BSc Hons top up, and is now starting her Masters in veterinary nursing. She loves all of her patients first and foremost, however also appreciates the small things in life – often found looking down a microscope with her passion for microscopy and laboratory work!

When not in work she fills her time with a true love of the outdoors! She hikes, skis and is learning to fly! She also has exceptionally good music taste and can quite often be found working whilst grooving to a very eclectic collection of tunes and I suspect would be pretty unbeatable at “guess the intro”!

Chloe Powell

Chloe Powell

Animal Nursing Assistant

Chloe joined us in 2024 as an ANA and is loving caring for of all of the pets of Needham Market. She is very kind, caring and compassionate, and has already fitted into the team like a dream. She got married in 2025 and then had a super busy summer helping Hannah (one of our RVN’s) with her wedding too as one of her bridesmaids! Not only is she a hero with keeping “out the back” an organised paradise, her main love is providing the absolute best care for the patients and she does this so very well. She also shares her life with her very cute cat Pippin who is a mischievous lad, and she has a flair for interior design having transformed her house into an absolute beauty!
Karen Emsley

Karen Emsley

Client Care

Karen joined us in 2024 in the client care team and is looking forward to welcoming all the pets of Needham Market. She has bundles of experience, having worked in the veterinary field for a number of years and is great at both the front of house and the admin roles. Her secret dream is to live in an off-grid commune rescuing animals! But until that dream is a reality, we are thrilled to have such talented hands on the team!

Dr James Browning

Dr James Browning

MRCVS, Veterinary Surgeon

James joined us in September 2021 and has bought our vet count up to 5. Originally we were only looking for a maternity cover for Jenny, but he was just too lovely we had to offer him a permanent position. He is not only an incredibly good vet, an incredibly good human, but also an incredibly good asset to the astonishingly unsuccessful BSEVC pub quiz team. In fact he almost triples our scores each week. We still lose. But we lose better!?

He is currently completing his ophthalmology certificate and sees a lot of complex eye and eyelid cases as well as all of the general practice cases, and he is also a whizz kid at dentistry!

Confident, compassionate and caring. We are very lucky to have him. When not at work he spends time with his lovely partner Lydia and has some amazing skills in woodwork, carpentry and is also an AMAZING artist!

Simon Wright

Simon Wright

RVN, CertVN (DI), Head Veterinary Nurse

Where to start with or head nurse Simon. Other than to say he is an absolute dream! He joined us in December 2019 and not only brought our quota of male vet nurses up to approximately 10,000,000 times the national average, but also brings us cake. His cinnamon rolls are a thing of legend!

He has an exotics certificate, and loves all things avian, but is an absolute allrounder, and I can safely say that I am not sure I have ever seen him sweat or panic. He is the coolest cucumber on the planet. He organises the nursing team with absolute precision and has proven to be the best “wing man” (‘cos he likes birds…. get it..?)

He shares his life with his partner and he also has a complete obsession with Chow’s, so much so that I am pretty sure he has some kind of “Chow Radar” and knows the second a Chow walks in the building as he will always appear to give it a smoosh! When not working he is super into salsa. Not the food kind. And spending time with Mikey (human), Link (Chow) and Olive (Pomeranian x , but looks like a mini version of Link so they make the most adorable fluffy pair!) as well as his Tortoises and his allotment!

Maia Rumsby

Maia Rumsby

RVN, Veterinary Nurse

You will see Maia making a few appearances at Needham to help cover holiday. Having been with us at Bury since the summer of 23 she’s developed into a spectacular nurse. Maia has a soft spot for chinchillas having one herself. A fantastic all rounder who has amazing attention to detail your pets will be in safe hands.

Anna Parkes

Anna Parkes

Animal Nursing Assistant

Anna has been a long standing client (nearly a decade!) of Carly’s who came up to Bury to allow us to continue to care for her pets. She rapidly became a firm team favourite and is, perhaps, the loveliest person on the planet. So lovely, we have basically now stolen her from Essex and her and her husband have relocated to Sunny Suffolk to come at work at Needham and Bury.

She has a background working as an ANA at the RVC in London, as well as a Canine Hydrotherapist, so you know your pets are in the very best of hands. Not just a cat and dog lover (although she is very passionate about those too) she is also a certified “crazy bunny lady” and loves giving the very best care to all the species that walk, crawl or hop through the door! She got married in 2024 and shares her home with her husband and (most importantly, she would argue) her long nosed pointy Podenco’s who are absolute clowns!

Nat Bird

Nat Bird

Veterinary Surgeon, MRCVS

The fabulous Nat joined us in the summer of 2025. She previously worked with Carly, Ayla , Ash S and Rose in a former job and we are delighted that after all this time she has rejoined us at Needham.

She is a FABULOUS vet. Kind, caring, compassionate and super super experienced and knowledgeable. A real all-rounder, she is a super surgeon and an excellent medic and there is nothing she can’t turn her hand too.

Fun fact – Carly remembers seeing EMS (clinical placements from vet school) with Nat and remembers thinking that she is the sort of vet she wants to be when she is qualified!

Outside of work she can often be found chasing after her husband and young family and a fleet of daschunds!
